All good things must come to an end but not quite yet. As so many have enjoyed delving into the Sterns 18 CD collection of African music (Africa 50 Years of Music) the Washerman’s Dog tonight presents Sterns Sampler Volume Number 2.
This selection like the first one covers all six regions of Africa and all five decades from 1960 to 2010. Once again you’ll be mesmerised by East African guitar wizards and Ghanian highlife trumpeteers. Hiphop artists from North Africa bump shoulders with soulful Guinean soloists. And once again you’ll be wondering how in Hades can so much good music come from one (admittedly, rather large) slice of earth.
Don’t fret. Simply enjoy.
